It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Pansey Coates at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on April 27th, 2026 at the age of 92 years. Pansey Sophia LeDrew was born in Change Islands a daughter of the late Reuben and Mary (Peckford) LeDrew on June 23,1933. Pansey married the love of her life Roy Coates and together they raised eight wonderful children. Her life was centered around her family and she always put them first. She had a great love for music and her faith was very strong. Pansey loved her friends and always loved making new ones. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Left to cherish her many memories are her children; Guy (Joyce) LeDrew, Sadie (Dave) Allen, Aleta (Rick) Neville, Evelyn (Randy) Verge, Gary (Marilyn), Marilyn (Derrick) Fancey, Ross (Eileen) and Dean (Christine). She will be lovingly remembered by her 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; sisters in law; Cavell Coates, Beatrice Rose Troke as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and a lot of amazing great friends who have always been there for her. In addition to her parents, Pansey was also predeceased by her husband Roy Coates; brothers Malcolm and Nelson; sisters Rosie and Joyce; grandson Brent Neville; nephews Rayfield & Eric Francis; niece Daisey LeDrew; parents- in- law Lewis & Emma Coates; her sisters- in-law Dulcie Fancey (Wilson), Marjorie LeDrew; brothers-in-law Claude Francis and Don & Albert Coates. Resting at The Pentecostal Tabernacle in Wing’s Point, a private family viewing will take place on Friday, May 1st, 2026 from 7 to 9pm with public visitation on Saturday, May 2nd, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 at 2pm from the Pentecostal Tabernacle with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Pentecostal Cemetery Fund. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff who cared for Mom with such kindness and compassion during her two month stay at James Payton Memorial Hospital.
