Gwendolyn Bessie Warren (nee Reid) passed peacefully away on Saturday July 18, 2015 at the Carmelite House. She was born October 2, 1927 in Dildo, Trinity Bay, NL to Samuel and Susie Reid. In her early years she worked at the Grace General Hospital, and Purity Factory in St.John's. It was later, while she worked at Moore’s General Store in Dildo that she met her beloved husband Philip. Together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage and raised two sons Milton and Shawn, and their daughter Lisa.
She is predeceased by her daughter Lisa McKenzie, her parents and sister Clarice Foss. Leaving to mourn are her husband Philip; Sons: Milton (Debbie), and Shawn (Rhoda); Grandchildren: Stephen(Megan), Michael (Kane), Matthew (Jessica), Alex, Devon, Brandon, and Kirsten; Great-grandchildren: Hudson, James, and Camille; sister Chloe Bixby, as well as large number of family members and friends.
Gwen was a wonderful homemaker and truly enjoyed family times with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her kindness and quiet sense of humor will be long treasured memories to them.
Resting at Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte with visitation to take place on Monday, July 20 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 21, at 2pm from the Maranatha Pentecostal Church in Brown’s Arm with interment to follow from the Pentecostal Cemetery.
