To the Vatcher family:
I am sorry to hear about your beloved husband, father, grand father, brother and knowing what a pretty full life he lived. We remember him well and I am sure my husband, Pastor Leslie Bath has a lot of catching up to do with him now. Our dear beloved ones are missed and I know having lost a wonderful son at age 37 on April 14, then 7 months later, my husband also took his departure to Heaven, our final destination and Glory Land. What a day of rejoicing and reunion that will be!!
The void and vacancy is still there, but they would never want to trade places with us now, not pain or sickness, no sadness and seeing the wonderful face of our Lord and Saviour.
Our love and prayers go out to you at this time.

Sorry we were unable to visit the funeral home or attend Ed’s funeral. I have many fond memories of Ed from our time setting up the first Crusader group in Lewisporte in the late 60’s, early 70’s, many visits to the garage, even on Main St. where Rodney’s house is now and, of course the “new” one. Ed would always respond “half decent” when asked “how ‘ya doin’ Ed”. Then one day a while ago I said “no point in asking, I know you’re half decent. His response was “no I’m only about a quarter now.” So when I heard he had died one of my first thoughts was that Ed was now fully 100% decent! Be assured of our ongoing thoughts and prayers.

Theresa and I were so saddened to hear of Ed’s passing and so sorry that we could not be with you and the family at this difficult time. Be assured our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I have known Ed for quite some years, from having worked together with the Gideons and have always known him to be a man after God’s heart. He was a great mentor and I will miss our chats and his wise words of wisdom that he willingly shared when we were together. His knowledge of the Bible always left me wanting to hear more of the nuggets of truth he had learned from God’s word.
May all of you be comforted with the words of Thessalonians: 4:13-14 NIV
Brothers and Sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who are asleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

So very sorry to hear of Ed's passing . I have known Ed for many years .I was only a young child when we met . After moving to Lewisporte and having older cars ,he was my knight in shining amour as he always fixed it back up and I was on the road again . Five years ago he was there to help me again .My daughter was getting married and her dream was to have an older car in the wedding . Ed was ok with it if it didn't rain . The rain held of that day and Ed was there to help make her day perfect. I have so many good memories of Ed that will live on . I have many fond memories of Eddy going all the way back to the 617 Dambusters Air Cadet Squadron days in the mid 60's. In later and recent years, both he and Winnie became very dear friends of the family and were very supportive of my mom after my dad passed away a few years ago. My fondest memories of growing up in Lewisporte area was my time with 617 Dambusters Air Caders. Under the leadership of Mayor Vatcher. 1979 August 10 at CFB Greenwood Capt. Vatcher was promoted to Major and every cadet on parade (esp 617 Dambusters) cheered. I will never forget how proud we were.
Major Vatcher you made a huge diffrence in a lot young peoples lives. You kindness and quality leadership stayed with me through out my adult life with respect and reverence I bid you a happy flight of The Angles and thank you for being a wonderful and compassionate gentleman.

What a great man of God. We met some years ago at a Men's Fellowship meeting where he was an invited guest speaker.
We've remained friends since then and he would always make it a point to greet me with a warm welcome when ever I visited hi church in Lewisporte.
He would always want to know how I was doing and love to share what was happening in is world, and especially his love for old cars.

Winnie ,Rodney, Katina and families. It is with heavy hearts we write this to you. We met Ed when we moved to Lewisporte 20 years ago and him and Cal bonded and became good friends. He visited practically every day and they would sit in the shed and discuss everything from politics to religion. If he missed a few days we would have to check on him and make sure he was ok . He has been a blessing to us and will surely be missed. Cal visited him in hospital a few times and said his good byes.
