Passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, Wilson Hoddinott, age 91, of Embree, residing at Kingsway Retirement Living in Lewisporte, NL. He was predeceased by his wife, Greta (nee Bursey), daughter, Doris Cheryl, parents, Roy and Martha (nee Thompson) Hoddinott, sister, Minnie Collins, and brother, Randolph. Left to mourn with loving memories are his daughters; Marilyn (Bert Twyne) and Valda (Bill Pitcher); Granddaughters, Rhonda (Todd Potter), Tara (Jeremy Foss), Grandson, Jared Pitcher; Great-grandchildren, Zach Potter and Emma Foss; brothers, Frank (Virley) and Rex (Janet), sisters, Mabel (Gerry McEachern) and Donna (Gordon MacMillan) and sister-in-law Melita Bursey. As well as a large circle of relatives and friends. A special thank you to Ches and Sylvia Eastman for their many acts of kindness and also to Kingsway Living for their care. He went to work at an early age in the lumber woods and later as an auto mechanic for many years in Embree and Lewisporte, where he worked at Locke’s Garage and Luscombe’s Garage. His favorite pastimes, after his retirement, were salmon fishing and frequent visits to McDonald’s where he would spend time talking with his friends about old times. He gave his heart to Jesus on Easter Sunday night, March 26,1978, at Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Embree. From there his desire was to serve his Lord and encourage his friends and family to have a relationship with God. “I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea About the angels singing, and the old redemption story And some sweet day I’ll sing up there the song of victory O Victory in Jesus!” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private, family interment at the Embree Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Families Funeral Home, 9 Forward Drive, Lewisporte, NL.
