Barry was one of my best friends when I was in the Navy in the late 70s and early 80s. We lost contact for about 20 years, but reconnected a few years ago. He had not changed much from his younger days. My condolences to his family and friends.

Just wanted to say I was sorry to hear of Barries passing. Funny how the years fly by. Although I am Barries first cousin I have only been in his presence a few times. Mostly when we would travel to Fogo island in summer to visit relatives and as a young adult at his wedding. I always enjoyed Barrie’s calming tones and manner.
My dearest condolences to his children and family members. Regret not having seen him in so many years.

To my dearest friend Erin,
There are no words I can say to make this time any easier on you all. My heart is simply broken for you and Dylan. I’ll treasure the memories of the many trips your dad had made for us friends to be together as pre teens, the lecture when we didn’t check the oil in the car, the time we actually put the car off the road, the many times he told us to never drink and drive, that he would pick us up no matter where we were or what time. the muffler story, Josephine joke, and Appleton estate. these are just some of the things that bring a smile to my face when I think of Barry Decker and I bet even with such a hard time these memories will put a warm smile of your face as well. My condolences to the Decker family on the loss of Barry, I had the pleasure of meeting and sailing with Barry onboard HMCS Protecteur when I first joined the Navy in the 80's.I was a different trade than Barry but seeing how I was from Gander Bay Barry kind of took me under his wing to get my seamanship package done. Great guy, big heart , he will be missed. RIP Barry
