Obituary of Laura Harnett
Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laura Harnett passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, surrounded by family and love, at the age of 89. Laura was born December 9, 1931, on Samson's Island, NL to the late George and Daisy Twyne. She was the youngest of four children, preceded in death by her brothers Claude and John, and her sister Annie-May.
Laura married the late Martin Harnett in 1954. They shared a beautiful life together, spending most of their married years living in Lewisporte. They had four children together: Frauline, Bonnie, Craig and Michelle. Laura loved children - she was a foster-mom for 25 years, opening her home to many bonus children, including Christine and Josephine, with whom she bult a lifelong relationship.
Laura had a passion for cooking, and she made the best homemade bread! She loved fashion and home décor, and had a keen eye for style. She was an avid knitter and was an expert in what she called "fancywork". Laura spent countless hours solving sudoku puzzles (but only the specific kind from the Dollar Store). She enjoyed listening to gospel music, particularly the Gather's, and was devoted to her faith.
Laura was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and as of 10-days ago, a great-great-grandchild. Children were drawn to her, and she was always happiest when they were around.
For the last four years, Laura was cared for by the wonderful staff at White's Family Care Residence. She loved "her girls" - a special thank you to the staff who treated her like family.
Laura will be deeply missed by all who love her - her children, grandchildren, and wide circle of family and friends. She has long awaited the reunion with the love of her life, and we find peace knowing they are together again.
