Obituary of Gerald Henry Hutchings
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerald Hutchings-Passed peacefully into Heaven’s eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth, his siblings Wallace, Jonas, Cora, and Alona, and his first wife Delphine. Left to cherish his memory his wife, Winnifred.
Gerald was surrounded to the very end by his sons, Everett, Eddy, Craig, Shawn, Clint, and Jeff, and his daughters Jean, Pauline and Susan. Theirs is the task to carry on the legacy of a faithful, kind man, and a loving, dedicated father. Gerald and Delphine had 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Also with him in his final hours was his wife Winnifred and her daughters Denise and Nola. Gerald was gracefully accepted and loved by all of the Edwards family, who were so kind to him and treated him with love and respect.
As Gerald’s family we would like to thank dad’s friends for their lifelong friendship, kindness, and support. They were many, and they stood beside dad through both the joys and the hardships. We will always be grateful for your friendship with our father.
We would also like to mention the countless men that dad worked with during his time in the lumber camps. Dad was proud to have worked alongside so many strong and goodhearted men. His fond stories of working in the various woods camps in central Newfoundland were endless.
We are so blessed to have had a father who aged gracefully and who loved his family so dearly.
Thank you, dad, for instilling in us the virtues and beliefs that served you so well and will guide us on the road ahead.
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9
