I don't remember how old Scott was when he first showed up after church one Sunday, but he was young, maybe 24? When I met Terry many years later, I thought he looked just like Scott had back then.
Scott came by after church on Sundays for quite some time. He bought me a record that was all piano music -I played the piano back then. I think it was called Greensleaves. We didn't have many records. I played that one constantly, loved it! He asked me to be a bridesmaid when he married Marie. Scott was so quiet, reserved; while Marie was so outgoing and full of energy. She still is! They were a great match. I'm sure it took a lot of guts to move back to Newfoundland with 3 small children. I never saw Scott again for a very long time. My memory of him is from his 20s, handsome, reserved - a quiet solid presence.

Our hearts are broken to hear the passing of Sweet Uncle Scott. I have many memories of Uncle Scott during our summer visits. I am going to miss our sweet visits and his famous compliment to me whenever he seen me. We enjoyed every visit and are saddened our last trip home we could not see him. Uncle Scott you will be missed and we look forward to the sweet reunion.
We wish we could be there right now but know you all are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love

Words truly cannot express how sad we are that grandpa has passed, and how hard it is to be provinces away from the family during this time.
However, we are blessed to have so many amazing memories with him. I still remember when Grandma and Grandpa lived in Ontario, we would help them at their apartment buildings and Grandpa would always find us treasures in the trash (I still have all the hockey cards we collected).
I remember being in the Dominican and getting so sunburnt that I couldn’t go out in the sun, but Grandpa stayed in the shade to play checkers with me on the beach. I also specifically remember on that trip, not wanting to leave Grandma’s and Grandpa’s side and being so upset when my parents told me I had to stay with them instead.
Most recently though, my memories are of my last two trips to Newfoundland. Last year I brought Sean home to meet Grandpa and as they got to know each other, our fondest memories are of the wild stories he shared with us that trip. And last, but certainly not least, Makayla and I flew out this summer with Melina and Elias and spent as much quality time as possible with him, and I am so thankful for the time that we shared.
Thinking of everyone in Newfoundland all together celebrating the life of an amazing person, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Although I cannot be there to celebrate his life, I am with you all in spirit.
I love you Grandpa - my checkers on the beach playing opponent - forever and always.

I look at pictures of Grandpa and all I can hear is his quick wit and one eye wink he used to do as he laughed. He was and always will be our sweet and hard working Grandpa. Our hearts ache at Grandpa's passing, especially as we long to be there with all the family this week. Praying for everyone in Newfoundland and wishing we could be there to support Grandma, Mom and all the family.
We will forever cherish the time spent with Grandpa last month, holding the time he spent with Melina and Elias in our hearts forever. Melina loved giving him her tight hugs, as Elias decided to play shy this past visit but wanted Grandpa's beloved TV remote. Each memory is so precious, only making me want to go back and hug Grandpa just that much tighter.
Forever loving every photo and hug we were able to get, every country music reunion he watched, and most importantly the quiet evening moments. Every Sudoku game will forever remind me of him.
I will continue to play Sudoku your way Grandpa, even if it's cheating.
Forever loving you;
Makayla, Cole, Elias & Melina McDiarmid.

I just saw Scott’s obituary and saddened to read of his passing. We had not heard of him being sick, so we are kind of shocked.
Scott was a good neighbor while we were in Gayside, 1974-1978, now Baytona. He was a very quite, soft spoken, but had no trouble expressing his opinion if needed. He actually was the main carpenter to add Sunday School rooms to the church. He was so dependable and skilled. We just can’t imagine his passing.
May the Lord comfort you in your journey of grief.
Peace and condolences to you all.

I will never forget the memories I’ve had with my grandpa. The trips we’d go on as a family, my visits to Newfoundland, and the times he’d visit Ontario. Each and every one was special and will be cherished forever. He had so many experiences and memories to share, and I only wish I could’ve gotten to hear all of them.
He was always someone I could look up to. He was hard-working, handsome, and most of all, a kind soul.
Our lives here are so short, and now, he’s onto his next chapter. Our existence is a book, and his life was only the prologue.
I love you grandpa - always will.

Sharing your sorrow as you celebrate Scott's life today.
Lots of good memories from our childhood come to mind. As soon as he was old enough, Scott had a love for bird and rabbit hunting, and fishing.
He loved to be busy with his hands and as a young teenager, he built his own tool shed.
Scott was blessed with a beautiful family that he was very proud of.
Rest in peace my dear brother.

How do I begin? This is not what I want to be doing right now. I want to be there with ALL of you, to mourn together; however, I CAN'T get home. My heart is broken, a void that can never be replaced.
Although Scott has been unwell for years, I did think I had more time to torment him, tease him, hug him and tell him I loved him. Everyone knows I'm a big sook. I'm going to miss him saying: Don't be so foolish, then give that silly laugh of his.
When I was a little girl I used to idolize Scott, he was my BIG brother, one who gave me all of the big toys. Later, he gave me another sister, Marie and three REAL toys to play with, his children, Cynthia, Melanie and Terry.
Oh how I wish I were there with you now.
Scott loved his family so much. He was so proud of each of you. His face would light up when he spoke about you.
Keep all of your precious memories close to your hearts and treasure them always, I know I will.
I love you all.
