Obituary of Corey Richard Martin
Please share a memory of Corey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Corey Martin announce his unexpected passing on August 26, 2024 at the University Hospital in Edmonton, AB.
Corey was born to David and Doreen Martin of Lewisporte, NL on March 6, 1978. While he lived in NL until he was 19 years old, Corey relocated to Alberta in 1997. There he met and fell in love with Kimberly Woolridge of Regina, SK. They exchanged marriage vows on August 30, 2013 and together have cared for one another (in sickness and in health), and Kim’s son Nathan, until 2022 when he was moved to a care home. Kim’s son Emry and his wife made them extremely happy grandparents.
Corey was a very proud poppa to Aubrey and Ryden. His dogs Nanuk, Savoury & Waldo were very important to him as well.
Corey was a cherished man, known for his kind, loving, caring and humorous personality. He loved his barbeques with family and friends. He enjoyed camping and outdoor activities and he was a wonderful cook and knew his way around the kitchen. He had the capacity to bring joy to those around him.
Corey had a knack for making friends and for making each one of them feel like his best friend. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and his perpetual smile.
On July 14, the night before his heart surgery, Corey messaged his aunt and said that he had “had a little talk with Jesus”. As we grapple with the loss of his physical presence, we find solace in knowing he is at peace with the Maker of Heaven and Earth. He was predeceased by his mom, Doreen Martin; parents-in law, Rita & Henry Woolridge; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife Kimberley Martin; his dad David Martin; stepsons Nathan and Emry (Miranda) Woolridge. Corey will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Aubrey and Ryden; sister Deanne Martin; sisters-in-law Cindy (Rob) Pomeroy and Beth (Rodney) Sundin; and brother-in-law Kevin Woolridge. He was also blessed to have many other family and friends.
Corey was well loved and will be forever deeply missed by all.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will take place from Families Funeral Home on Monday, September, 23rd at 11am.
Corey prioritized finding joy despite circumstances in life and sharing that love and joy with others. The family ask that, in his memory, you do the same.
