Darren...I have a very heavy heart with writing this message. Its hard to believe that you can lose a loved one in an instant. I remember spending time on the boat as a child but would love it when Bob would open the supermarket so Darren and I could get candies from the candy counter to take with us. Craig remembers Bob being his first boss when he gave him his first job as a teenager at the supermarket. It was nice to see you guys last year down at the marina in Lewisporte and talk about some of those old memories. We are both thinking about you all during this most difficult time. We had only known Bob for about ten years and, in that period of time, we had become very familiar with a person that we would characterize as a jokester or prankster (fun loving)to his friends and acquaintances. Rita, Darren, Paula, Lorilynn, Stephen and all extended family members. I won't try to express what my heart feels at this time. It is impossible to put into words just what I really want to say and there is really no place to start. Shocked- an understatement.Saddended by the swiftness one can be taken from us. Memories of dealing with Bob in business. Reflections of meeting him at the Lake. Respect for his forthrightness in putting things in perspective, no matter what the subject or issue was. Rita, Lorilynn, Paula, Darren, Stephen and the entire Woolfrey family. To say I was shocked when I got the text from Lorilynn regarding Bob's passing would be an understatement - words cannot express the sadness felt. Through all the school years I spent visiting and studying with Lorilynn at your home on Main Street, and the times dropping by in Halifax when Bob and Rita were visiting, Bob was always full of life and laughter. We joked constantly and he always made me feel very welcomed in the household. There are so many great memories. As a family, hold on to these memories and cherish all the time you had with such a great gentleman. He loved you all very much and was a great friend to countless others. In the times I saw him personally out and about during visits to Lewisporte, he would always tell me about what all of you were doing and provide updates on the grandchildren. You could see the pride in his smile. I am so sorry I could not be there for the funeral. Please know you are in mine and Charlene's thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Aunt Rita, Darren, Paula, Lorilynn, and Stephen, I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear of the sudden passing of Uncle Bob. I've been thinking about what to say about him, and honestly, I keep coming back to a man that was bigger than life. Uncle Bob was always a man that I looked up to and was very proud of. When he walked into a room, he had an instant presence - a presence that I truly admired and to this day wish that I could portray. I could not be prouder to share his name. Take care of each other.

I got to know Bob real well since I Joined the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. Always enjoyed being in his company we always had a few laughs at our meetings but he was there to help me out as well. The last time I was talking to Bob was at Gander Airport we were on the same fight together to Toronto. But when I found out about his passing it really took me back. Wish I could of made it to the funeral to stand next to my brothers from the Masonic lodge. Fare well my brother you will be dearly missed.

Rita, Darren, Lorilynn, Stephen, family, and numerous friends, Please accept my condolences regarding Robert's passing. It was disturbing and sad to hear this news -- his departure was far too early. No doubt Bob's passing has been troublesome. Be proud and hold your heads high. You raised a good father, and a good man raised you. If I'm not mistaken, the church will miss him because I could swear he sang decently -- or at least he was loud enough to hear. Lewisporte lost another prankster from the last bastion and generation to sensibly get away with it-- while oddly having people begging for more. On a more serious note, communities are an aggregate of it's people, it's contributors of daily life, charitable acts, and organizations. Some participate merely by existing, while others live by being too involved you can't ignore their existence. Bob's contributions, character, and presence easily placed him in the latter category. He was a pillar the Lewisporte community, active provincially, and at a very minimum you can be sure he was pulling good pranks and spreading Newfoundland humour beyond. He will be missed by many near and far. May you find peace and celebrate his life with more laughter than sorrow as time passes. God bless, Jaret Manuel
