Glenn, Nicholas, Lucas and the Penney Family. I was shocked to hear the sudden passing of Denise. She was a really good friend and a great coffee buddy. Our coffee group won't be the same without her. She was such a happy person and so proud of her two boys. Always smiling and she never said a bad word about anyone. Her saying was "We are all God's children". If there ever was an angel on earth, Denise was it and heaven has certainly gain ed a bright colorful smiling angel when he called her home. Your wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister n law, aunt, cousin, friend was a wonderful, wonderful lady whom I proudly call my friend. She was always doing something to make someone happy. That is what made her happy. She loved to put smiles on everyones face. I remember one of the hardest times in my life, when I was diagnosis with cancer, while in the hospital who didnt appear, but my lovely friend, Denise with her big beautiful smile. Denise's family and friends, Denise was an amazing kind-hearted, loving individual who brightened up the room with her smile! When I worked with her on OBS her positive attitude and personality were captivating! In 2008 I was pregnant with my first child. I was told there could be something wrong according to a late u/s. Well Denise was my nurse when I was admitted and she took the time to sit in my room and listen to my fears and give me a hug when I needed one! I don't think she realized what that act of kindness meant to me because she was just being herself!! To her family and close friends I pray you can find one special thing in your life each day to get you through to the next. I first met Denise when she was a new graduate nurse coming to work In Gander Hospital...Right away, on her first day there, all she had to do was smile and I liked her immediately. We worked together for a few years until I moved on to Ontario... Fast forward a few years (1998/) and I am working in ICU at Health Sciences. I was given report and told my new patients name who was having surgery..."Denise Batt!" Oh how I was touched and blessed to be her nurse that day...I met her in ICU with a tube of lipstick in my hands!! She never went anywhere without it, and although she was sleepy..I put lipstick on her!! how we laughed at that story in the years to come!! She touched my life, I was blessed to have been acquaintances with her...she is an inspiration and a icon of strength and courage for us all. To Glenn and Family and to those of us who knew her...we have been given a gift..the gift of knowing and loving Denise. And for that I thank God. May he give you all courage and love to carry on.
