We were deeply saddened to hear of your dad's (grandfather's) passing. In our years pastoring at Lewisporte,we came to love and appreciate brother Bert and his meek and humble spirit. We were aware of the tremendous loss for him when his wife passed away but now he is gone to be with his Lord and Saviour and to be reunited with those who has gone before us. Be assured of our continued thoughts and prayers. Blessings!

I have so many wonderful memories of such a special uncle, from childhood memories with you, "Aunt Wee" and Diane of summer camping trips and drives around Lewisporte to see the Christmas lights, to adult memories of sitting at my kitchen table together drinking tea and eating raison buns to phone conversations that always ended with "I loves ya." While it breaks our hearts to let you go, it brings us great comfort in knowing that you are being reunited with Aunt Wee whom you loved and missed so much these past seven years. Like I said to you when you were sick, we would like to have you here for a few more years yet, but you and Aunt Wee were always meant to be together too and I guess in the end, the good Lord decided it was time. I recently read that death doesn't erase a life and no truer words were ever spoken. You will never be erased from our lives and will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Enjoy heaven my dear uncle. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Diane, Dennis, Brandon and the extended family. We regret to learn that Bert has completed his life's journey. I remember him talking about how sick he would get when the time would come for him to go back on the boat. This time he had to get sick to go home, to his final home. Since he anchored his soul in the haven of rest, he will sail the wild seas no more. According to our belief he will be united with the Lord and reunited with believers who went before him, including Mom and Vera. The family dynamics have changed and things will never be the same without him. But we move on with memories of his quiet, kind and loving personality. He will be missed. Sorry we cannot be with you at this time, but we hope you can feel our love and prayers. Thinking of you. Uncle Harold and Dean.

Diane and family, We haven't met, however, your father was a wonderful friend to my father and mother, Arthur and Blanche Starkes of St. John's. Everytime your father's big red ship would dock in St. John's they were guaranteed a call or visit from Bert. I would often hear my father remark at supper, "Bert's ship is in he'll probably drop up tonight" and sure enough, Bert would call or come visit. Even today I think of your father when I see the ship in St. John's Harbour. They remained friends and Bert calling or visiting until my Dad's passing in 2001 and after that Bert still called Mom or me to see how she was doing. I remember how excited Bert was telling us about the arrival of his grandson. Brandon was definitely the centre of his world. Bert would often remark to Mom how Art would have enjoyed spending time with my son Nicholas who arrived just 3 short months before Dad's passing. He always asked about Nicholas when he spoke with Mom. On behalf of Mom(now 98 and residing at Hoyles Home, St. John's)and myself I would like to extend our sympathies on your father's passing and thank him for the wonderful memories he brings to mind from my childhood. I am sure you have many, many wonderful memories to draw on to be of comfort to you and your family at this time. With sympathy, Ruby, Lloyd and Nicholas Williams Paradise, NL
